I never set out to become an educator.


I was just trying to build a photography business that felt like me.


Over the years, that meant experimenting, creating signature experiences, figuring out what worked, learning from what absolutely did not, and paying attention to the things that made clients come back.


Surf Santa was one of those ideas.


What started as a fun idea for my own family grew into an annual event, a local tradition, a booking frenzy, and eventually a viral sensation.


And somewhere along the way, I realized: I have learned a lot that other photographers could use.


So I’m starting to share it.

Surf Santa started with a simple idea. My family had just moved to our small beach town, and I wanted to create a Santa experience that felt like us. A friend suggested Santa on the beach, and I decided to give it a try.


Five years later, Surf Santa has become an experience that sells out within minutes and has grown far beyond what I imagined when I started.


I'm incredibly proud of what I've built and I'm ready to share what I've learned along the way.
