Shannon of Monarch Flower Co is just simply the best! Her designs are the kind that take your breath away! She can take an idea and transform it into the most beautiful work of art! On top of that, Shannon is an incredible human, mom and friend! I’m so thankful to know and work with her.
What is one thing couples should consider when hiring a florist?
It shouldn’t just be based on price – you need to trust your florist! Meet with them and make sure that you get all of your questions answered and that you feel 100% comfortable with them. Even if they are slightly more expensive than a competitor, having that trust will put you at ease for your wedding day.
What do you wish you could tell all your couples?
When you’re looking at inspiration photos there is a 90% chance those photos have a filter. In person, flowers may not be as bright white, or moody and mauve as they are in the photos. I will work with you to select realistic flowers in your color palette.
What’s your favorite part of working with couples on their wedding day?
I love that each couple wants something different. No wedding is ever the same and I love being able to get creative and work individually with couples to give them the flowers of their dreams.
What’s the best part of your job?
Flowers can make such a big impact at your wedding. I love that they can totally transform a space, and in so many ways. However, I think my favorite part is when I drop off the bridal bouquet to the bride. Seeing her face light up might be one of the best feelings on the planet!
What do most couples not know you offer/can do?
We don’t just do weddings! We also provide flowers for wedding showers, bachelorette parties (think flower crowns), rehearsal dinners and hey, maybe even a baby shower down the road ;).
What else do you want your couples to know about working with you?
Don’t be afraid to tell me what you really want! Sometimes I find that couples hold back in our initial meeting because they are worried that what they want won’t fit within their budget. I love getting creative and finding ways to give you a big impact while sticking to your budget. Smaller centerpieces and greenery aren’t always less expensive. The cost of flowers highly depends on the types of flowers being used. For example, a centerpiece with hydrangeas, mums, carnations, and stock can be much more cost effective than one with garden roses, dahlias, and lush greenery. We also have to take seasonality into account. Sometimes we simply aren’t able to get specific flowers during certain times of the year. It is always my goal to provide couples with beautiful flowers that are in their budget. I love working with couples to make sure they are able to get the most out of their budget.
